During my freshmen year of college, I donated blood for the first time. When I received my donor card in the mail, I learned that I was O negative, the universal donor. Since then I've donated at least dozen times and I can't imagine all the lives I've helped save for just a few moments of my time.

Emeline Carlisle was just 2 years old when second- and third-degree burns sent her to the emergency room. Thanks to the blood donations from strangers, Carlisle is alive today and encouraging the community to give blood at the Fox 24 and NASH FM 96.9 blood drive on April 30 in North Charleston.
