Vice President, Central Division
Sharon Jaksa has 28 years experience with the American Red Cross, serving in various capacities as: medical technologist, laboratory processing coordinator, senior technologist, assistant director of technical services, director of technical services, director of manufacturing, chief operating officer and CEO of the Great Lakes Region.
In 2012 she was promoted to division vice president of the Great Lakes Division. In November 2013 she was appointed vice president of the Central Division which includes 15 Blood Services Regions and seven shared management teams. She resides in Michigan and holds a Master of Administration degree from Central Michigan University.
She is also an adjunct professor for Michigan State University, teaching in the Masters Program for Laboratory Operations.
Chief Executive Officer, River Valley and Tennessee Valley Blood Services Region
Tim Ryerson's dedication to the American Red Cross began the day he started as a Red Cross volunteer swim instructor aid at the age of 11. From 1999 to 2010, he served as Regional Chief Executive Officer for Chapter Services in various states including Ohio, Illinois and Tennessee.
Then in 2010, Ryerson began CEO for the Tennessee Valley Blood Services region, In late, 2013, he was appointed CEO for two blood services regions, the Tennessee Valley (Nashville) and River Valley (Louisville). His position covers Tennessee and Kentucky, as well as counties in Illinois, Missouri and Indiana.
Ryerson is a graduate of Morehead State University and earned his Master of Science from Central Michigan University.
When he's not at work, Tim enjoys spending time with his wife, Holly, their two children, Logan and Ella, and their dog Starlet.
Doug Chin has been a member of the American Red Cross River Valley Blood Services Region Board of Directors since 2008. He was named Board Chair in June 2012 and previously served as chair of the region’s largest annual special event blood drive.
Chin is a health and safety specialist with Louisville Gas & Electric Company. Chin, who is a native of Louisville, Kentucky, holds an associate’s degree in Hazard Control Technology and a bachelor’s degree in Applied Health Science from Indiana University. He is also a member of the American Society of Safety Engineers.
In addition to his work with the River Valley Blood Services Region, Chin is an active supporter of Junior Achievement and the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels.
Claire Meena-Leist, M.D.
Dr. Meena-Leist is the medical director for the River Valley and Tennessee Valley Blood Services Regions. She also serves as medical director and director of clinical services for the IndianaOhio Blood Services Region.
Dr. Meena-Leist is an active member of AABB and ISABB. She is an adjunct associate professor and lecturer at the University of Louisville School of Medicine and adjunct assistant clinical professor at Vanderbilt University. She has served on the Medical Council for the national American Red Cross Biomedical Services. She received her M.D. from the University of Louisville School of Medicine in Louisville, KY.
