South Carolina Region - Sponsor A Blood Drive
Why Sponsor A Blood Drive?
Convenience, for many people, turns out to be the deciding factor whether they give blood or not. The American Red Cross works closely with companies, community groups, religious
organizations, colleges, high schools and other partners to organize blood drives at places most convenient for donors - the places where they live, work, worship, and play. In fact, 80 percent of blood donations made through the Red Cross are made at blood drives rather than at donor centers.
Blood drives need sponsors - an organization that can provide the appropriate physical space and a coordinator from the organization to educate, motivate, and recruit donors and work with the local Red Cross.
Why sponsor drives? Because it is both a simple and a powerful way to serve your community and allow employees, colleagues or members to get involved. Whether your organization is large or small, you can make a difference.
Together, we can save a life.
When you agree to sponsor blood drives, you join an elite corps of caring businesses and organizations in the community that play a vital role in saving lives by helping to ensure that blood is available to those in need.
Hospital patients served by the Red Cross depend on people like you who want to make a meaningful difference, but we certainly do not expect you to do it alone. The Red Cross will team you with a donor recruitment representative to guide you through the entire process-every step of the way. The donor recruitment representative and your selected blood drive coordinator will determine the dates for your blood drives, identify a suitable location, and set an attainable goal for the amount of blood to collect. The donor recruitment representative and blood drive coordinator will also work together to develop recruitment strategies that will work best for your organization.
On the day of the blood drive, specially trained Red Cross staff will ensure a smooth-running operation with minimal disruption to your daily routine. Your blood donors will receive caring and attentive treatment during every step of the donation process. Best of all, at the end of the day, you will have shown your community that your organization makes a difference.
Thank you for opening the doors of your facilities and for working with your colleagues, neighbors and friends to make blood drives a success-we know it is a lot of planning, creativity, and hard work. Thank you for inspiring many first-time donors, who may have never attempted to give blood if it had not been for your efforts. Thank you for giving so many people a chance for a full recovery so they can return home to their loved ones.
