Steve Stegeman
Chief Executive Officer of the American Red Cross Pacific Northwest Blood Services Region

Steve has been an employee of the American Red Cross since 1999 holding various finance, planning and strategy development positions at the national headquarters and field. Steve relocated to Portland, Oregon in 2006 to serve as the Senior Director, Business Planning for the Western Frontier Division (providing finance and planning support for Oregon, Washington, Utah, Idaho and Montana operations.) Since June 2008, Steve has served as the Chief Executive Officer for the Pacific Northwest Region.
Prior to the American Red Cross, he worked healthcare finance administration for integrated healthcare systems in Virginia and Ohio. Steve received his BS in Business from Miami University and his Master of Business Administration from Xavier University. He is also a Certified Public Accountant (CPA.) Steve lives in Southeast Portland with spouse Julie, and daughter Harper.
Mark Hevland
Chairman, Board of Directors for the American Red Cross Pacific Northwest Blood Services Region

Mark Hevland is the Chairman of the Board of Directors for the American Red Cross Pacific Northwest Blood Services Region; the Chairman of the American Red Cross Inland Northwest Regional Advisory Committee; is an active board member of the Benton-Franklin Chapter of the American Red Cross Board of Directors; and has served on the Board of Directors of Columbia Industries and the Benton County YMCA.
Early in his career Mark spent five years as the supervisor of Good Samaritan Hospital’s (Corvallis, Oregon) blood bank. That is where his interest and his over 30 years of association with the American Red Cross began. Mark’s current Red Cross interests include further enhancements of Blood Services and Chapter relationships, expansion of the blood donor population, especially in the area of bringing younger people into the pool as well as building overall interest in volunteerism within this population, and the further enhancements and introduction of technology into the Blood Services sector.
Mark retired from Pacific Northwest Natural Laboratory and the Hanford Nuclear Reservation in June of 2010 with over 25 years of technical, project and line management experience in a wide variety of venues. He holds undergraduate degrees in both Environmental Sciences and Medical Technology and received his M.S. in Radiological Health (Health Physics) from Oregon State University in 1981.
