E. Mary O’Neill, M.D. Dr. Mary O’Neill is Vice President for the American Red Cross Blood Services, Northeast Division, which includes the Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York-Penn, Northeastern Pennsylvania and Northern New England Regions. The Northeast Division collects approximately 953,000 units of whole blood and 117,500 platelet products on an annual basis, supplying blood to more than 338 hospitals. Dr. O’Neill was appointed Vice President of the Northeast Division in December of 2004; in March 2007, the Northeast Division merged with the former Empire-Keystone Division. Prior to her appointment, Dr. O’Neill served as CEO and Medical Director for the former New England Region. Dr. O’Neill has a medical degree from the University College Cork Medical School in Cork Ireland. She was a Resident in anatomical pathology at The Mallory Institute of Pathology in Boston, Massachusetts and clinical pathology, at the University Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. O’Neill served as the Registrar for the Blood Transfusion Service Board in Cork, Ireland and was a Fellow in clinical chemistry at the University Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. O’Neill is board certified in Anatomical Pathology, Clinical Pathology and Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine. She is a Teaching Fellow and Assistant Professor of Pathology at Boston University School of Medicine, and had served an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Pathology at Dartmouth Hitchcock School of Medicine in Lebanon, New Hampshire. Dr. O’Neill serves on a wide range of committees, contributing to more than 23 publications, and serving as a reviewer on industry journals. |

Michael Kempesty Mike leads employees in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont and is responsible for the annual collection of approximately 196,000 red cells and 28,000 single donor platelets for distribution to 80 hospitals. Mike works closely with our hospitals to provide excellent customer service, striving always to maximize this precious resource for patients in need. Mike has 10 years of experience with the Massachusetts Region, starting as an Account Executive and progressively becoming regional Director of Recruitment. He is recognized as being results driven with a proven track record in goal achievement and relationship building. He holds a Graduate Certificate in Business Administration from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He is currently pursuing a Masters in Business Administration. Mike and his team are known for their unconventional ways of recruiting donors and promoting Blood Services. |

Patricia Pisciotto, M.D. Dr. Patricia Pisciotto joined the American Red Cross - Connecticut Blood Services Region as the medical director on November 1, 2005 and was appointed chief medical officer, Northeast Division in January 2007. Prior to joining the American Red Cross she served as the clinical director of Laboratory Medicine and Blood Bank/Hematology at the University of Connecticut Health Center - John Dempsey Hospital. She held the academic title of professor and interim chair for the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and Dental Medicine and presently maintains the title of professor emeritus. Dr. Pisciotto received her BS from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, N.Y. and her M.D. from Albany Medical College in Albany, N.Y. She completed her training in Pediatrics at the University of Minnesota Hospital, in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at New York Hospital-Cornell University Medical Center/Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and in Blood Bank/Transfusion Medicine at the University of Connecticut Health Center. She has pursued a career in transfusion medicine with special interest in pediatric transfusion therapy. She is Board Certified in Pediatrics, Pediatric Hematology-Oncology and Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine. |
