Marty Lempres
Vice President, East Blood Services Division

Marty Lempres is the vice president of the East Blood Services Division of the American Red Cross, a role in which he is responsible for operations in 12 Blood Services Regions spanning 17 states, from Maine to South Carolina. 

Prior to this role, Lempres served as a senior leader in Red Cross Humanitarian Services for a year, after 25 years working in financial services. During this time, he led integrated global business units and large functional organizations with industry leaders including State Street, Fidelity Investment and Salomon Brothers, after beginning his career with management consultant McKinsey & Company. 

Lempres has a master’s in business administration from the Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Arts from Dartmouth College. 

     
 

Michael Chaplo
Vice President of Recruitment, East Blood Services Division

Michael Chaplo is the vice president of Recruitment for the East Blood Services Division, where he works in partnership with Recruitment Process and Planning leadership, key recruitment-related functions and field leaders to drive improvements in how the organization recruits blood and platelet donors.

Prior to this role, Chaplo served as vice president of National Sales for Preparedness and Health and Safety Services (PHSS) with the American Red Cross in Washington, D.C. In this capacity, he brought extensive experience in growing revenue to the nonprofit industry, making incalculable contributions to the evolution and growth of PHSS.

Chaplo is a sales and marketing industry leader with more than 20 years of experience and a proven track record of success. He has contributed immeasurably to the high-tech and telecom industries through his executive tenure with several leading companies, where he developed sales and marketing strategies resulting in extraordinary revenue growth.

Chaplo has a Master of Business Administration in management and finance from Fairleigh Dickinson University and a Bachelor of Science from Utica College of Syracuse University. He has also completed executive education programs at the MIT Sloan School of Management, the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and Penn State University. 

     

 

 

Michael Kempesty
Chief Executive Officer, Northern New England Blood Services Region

Michael Kempesty serves as CEO of the American Red Cross Northern New England Blood Services Region, comprised of more than 400 employees. The region encompasses New Hampshire, Maine and Vermont and is responsible for collecting more than 180,000 red blood cell units and 30,000 platelet products annually.

With more than 12 years of Red Cross experience, Kempesty started as an account executive with Blood Services in Dedham, Massachusetts, was later promoted to director of Recruitment in 2008 and became CEO of the Northern New England Region in 2011. 

Since becoming CEO, his goals for the Northern New England Region include continuously striving to maintain and improve its quality and compliance profile by helping ensure all region activities are carried out in strictest compliance with the Red Cross, the U. S. Food and Drug Administration and all other applicable regulations. Kempesty is recognized as being results-driven and has a proven track record in goal achievement and relationship-building. 

He received a graduate certificate in business administration from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, and a Bachelor of Arts in communication from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He also holds a master’s in business administration from the Manning School of Business at the University of Massachusetts, Lowell. 

Kempesty and his wife, Jessica, have two children, Ayla and James, and live in Windham, New Hampshire. He has competed in the Ford Ironman Madison, Wisconsin, Triathlon and is an avid cyclist and golfer.
