Red Cross Invites Blood Donors to Have a Starring Role in Upcoming Blood Drive
Southern Blood Services Region
One of the most memorable lines from Frank Capra’s 1946 classic “It’s a Wonderful Life” is when Zuzu Bailey recalls, “Every time a bell rings, an angel gets his wings.”
This holiday season, the American Red Cross wishes to remind you that with every blood donation made as many as three lives may be saved as it hosts the “It’s Wonderful to Give Life” Blood Drive on Dec. 28, 2010, at The Atlanta History Center (130 West Paces Ferry Road NW, Atlanta) from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. The blood drive is sponsored by the American Red Cross Southern Blood Services Region Board of Directors.
All presenting blood donors will receive FREE admission to the Atlanta History Center for the participant and guest(s) and a FREE American Red Cross t-shirt. Participants will also be entered in drawings for other great prizes including:
- A 36” flat screen TV
- A Wii
- An iPad
- A 3-night stay in Perdido Key
- A set of pearl earrings
- Gift baskets and more!
Blood donations often decline during the winter holiday season due to holiday preparations and travel, but the need for blood remains constant. It’s important to take the time to give the gift of life.
Blood can be safely donated every 56 days. Most healthy people age 17 and older, 16 with parental consent, who weigh at least 110 pounds, are eligible to donate blood. Donors who are 18 and younger must also meet specific height and weight requirements.
