American Red Cross Offers Chance to See “Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition”

The American Red Cross has told its story of helping people in need for more than 100 years.  The story of Titanic’s maiden voyage has also been in the history books for 100 years.

American Red Cross donors have a unique opportunity to see authentic artifacts recovered from the ship in Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition”.  Atlanta is one of eight host cities to commemorate Titanic’s centennial anniversary. 

Present to donate at a participating blood donation center during the month of June and be entered to win tickets to see Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition.  Entries will be drawn weekly for 20 four packs of tickets.  Participating centers include Alpharetta, Athens, Camp Creek, Cobb, Duluth, Gainesville, Macon, Midtown and South Metro.

“While most of us become busier during the summer months, the need for blood remains constant,” said Randy Edwards, chief executive officer, American Red Cross Southern Blood Services Region.  “We appreciate our loyal donors who remember those who need life saving blood, and thank Titanic Exhibit for giving those donors this unique experience.”

Approximately 1,200 blood donations are needed daily in the Southern Blood Services Region to maintain an adequate supply for more than 120 local hospitals.  Blood can be safely donated every 56 days. Most healthy people age 17 and older, or 16 with parental consent, who weigh at least 110 pounds, are eligible to donate blood and platelets. Donors age 18 and younger must also meet specific height and weight requirements.
