for fall blood drive
Drive offers donors a new ‘do when they help save a life
MYRTLE BEACH and FLORENCE, S.C. (Sept. 8, 2014) — Just in time for fall, WBTW News 13 is teaming up with the American Red Cross and Sport Clips Haircuts to show donors that “Saving Lives Never Looked So Good.”
Presenting donors at the blood drive on Wednesday, Sept. 17, will receive a coupon for a free haircut at Sport Clips and a Red Cross T-shirt. Moreover, donors will take with them the gratification of knowing they have helped save up to three lives.
The event is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Magnolia Mall (Belk Court), 2701 David McLeod Blvd., in Florence; and HealthFinders at Coastal Grand Mall, 2000 Coastal Grand Circle, in Myrtle Beach.
For more information or to schedule an appointment, visit www.redcrossblood.org and enter sponsor code WBTW or call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-722-2767). Walk-ins are welcome.
Eligible donors are invited to give hope to patients in need by rolling up a sleeve and donating lifesaving blood. Blood and platelets are needed for many different reasons. Accident and burn victims, heart surgery patients, organ transplant patients, and those receiving treatment for leukemia, cancer or sickle cell disease may all need blood.
How to donate blood
Simply call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or visit redcrossblood.org to make an appointment or for more information. All blood types are needed to ensure a reliable supply for patients. A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age (16 with parental consent in some states), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.
