ROCK RADIO STATION DRAINS THE BLOOD AT RED CROSS ON HALLOWEEN
WARQ Holds 7th Annual Blood Drive  Columbia, S.C.—The American Red Cross and WARQ (Rock 93.5) are teaming up for the 7th annual “Drain the Blood” drive Friday, Oct. 30 beginning at 6 a.m. at the American Red Cross, 2751 Bull St., Columbia.  Rock 93.5 will broadcast live until 2 p.m. and blood donations will be taken until 5 p.m.   
 
Radio station morning show hosts Dave Stewart, Kat Morrison and Lemmy will be wearing their Halloween costumes, and donors are invited to do the same.  Presenting donors will have a chance to win Teddy Scare bears and SAW VI prizes, plus the first 93 presenting donors will receive a “Drain the Blood” T-shirt.  Food will be provided by McDonald’s, Panera, Krispy Kreme, Cupcakes and Beezer’s.   
 
Every two seconds, someone in the United States needs blood. The American Red South Carolina Blood Services Region provides lifesaving blood to patients in 54 hospitals. Approximately 500 people need to give blood or platelets each weekday to meet hospital demand.  
 
Blood can be safely donated every 56 days.  Most healthy people age 17 and older, or 16 with parental consent, who weigh at least 110 pounds, are eligible to donate blood and platelets.  Donors who are 18 and younger must also meet height and weight requirements.  For more information or to schedule an appointment to donate, please call 1-800-GIVE LIFE (448-3543) or visit givelife.org and enter sponsor code: ROCK935.
