Live 5 Invites Viewers to Give the Gift of Life

South Carolina Blood Services Region

September 7, 2012

Join Live 5 News, Apex Broadcasting and the American Red Cross for the Live 5 Blood Drive 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, at Citadel Mall.

Giving blood will help ensure that hope is available for hospital patients when they need it most. Last week, Hurricane Isaac impacted communities throughout the Southeast and also affected the American Red Cross Blood Services. Power outages and flooding forced the cancellation of blood drives and prohibited donors from keeping their appointments, putting an additional strain on the blood supply. One blood donation can save up to three lives, and one donation can go a long way in helping replenish the blood supply. The American Red Cross is committed to meeting the needs of our local hospitals first, but also has a national support network to help hospitals in communities like those affected by Hurricane Isaac.

All presenting donors will receive a free Red Cross travel mug and a coupon good for a free haircut from Sport Clips. In addition, donors will have a chance to win a $3,000 gift card through the Red Cross “Super Summer Save” promotion.

To schedule an appointment, go to www.redcrossblood.org and enter sponsor code Live5 call 1-800-RED CROSS (733-2767). Appointments are encouraged; however, walk-in donors are welcome.
