Sept. 9 Infineon Raceway Blood Drive Featuring “Hot Laps”

Northern California Blood Services Region

September 6, 2011

Community members and race fans alike can enjoy the ride of a lifetime and help save lives during the 11th annual High Speed Blood Drive at Infineon Raceway on Friday,  Sept. 9.

The raceway will partner with the American Red Cross on this one-of-a-kind blood drive, which will be held from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Infineon Raceway, 29265 Arnold Drive in Sonoma.  Since 2001, Infineon Raceway’s High Speed Blood Drive has generated nearly 900 pints of blood.

In true high-speed fashion, the raceway will put its own “spin” on the traditional blood drive, as donors can get their hearts pumping with a high-speed “hot lap” around the 12-turn road course before giving blood.  Donors will ride along with a professional instructor in an official Infineon Raceway Toyota Camry.

You can schedule your appointment to donate blood at the Infineon Raceway blood drive by calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or by clicking the link above.

Individuals who are 17 years of age (16 with parental permission in some states), meet height and weight requirements (at least 110 pounds based on height) and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood.  All donors must bring a valid photo ID.

In addition to the “hot lap”, all presenting donors will also receive a coupon for Mimi’s Cafe®.  The coupon* is good for a free starter or small plate with the purchase of a lunch or dinner entrée.

* Coupons are non-transferable and not redeemable for cash.
