Blood Donors Needed at Alhambra High School Drive in Martinez

Northern California Blood Services Region

April 30, 2010

The Alhambra High School leadership class and the American Red Cross will be holding a blood drive on Friday, May 21 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the gymnasium at Alhambra High School, 150 E. Street in Martinez.

The leadership class decided to sponsor the drive and open it to the community because the upcoming summer months can be the most difficult time of year for the Red Cross to collect blood.  The Red Cross and the leadership class hope that people who work near the high school, live in the community or are school alumni will choose to participate in the blood drive.

Perspective donors can call 1-800-RED CROSS (800-733-2767) to schedule an appointment for the upcoming blood drive.  Appointments can also be made online.

Donors may enter the gym from doors located on F Street, off of Alhambra, in the back of the school.  Parking is available in the school’s upper lot or on the street.

Before donating, people should get a good night’s sleep, drink plenty of fluids and eat a healthy meal.  They should also bring identification, such as a Red Cross blood donor card or a driver’s license.

All presenting blood donors at the drive will receive their choice of either a Red Cross T-shirt or a VIP Voucher for the Vans Warped Tour 2010.  The tour stops in the Bay Area on June 26 at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View.  This voucher will upgrade your concert ticket to have priority meet and greets with select bands (the voucher is not an admission ticket to the concert).

All presenting donors who select the voucher are eligible for a chance to win a VIP Package that includes two free admission tickets and two backstage access passes.
