American Red Cross and Raiders Team Up

Northern California Blood Services Region

December 10, 2009

Goal to Collect 50 pints of blood in honor of Raiders’ 50th Anniversary

The Oakland Raiders will donate the proceeds from certain ticket purchases for the December 13 game against the Washington Redskins to the American Red Cross Bay Area Chapter.

Tickets can be purchased for a special Red Cross section at a deep discount. Tickets regularly priced at $71 can be purchased for $30 at RedCrossBayArea.org/RaidersGameDay by entering “red cross” under Special Offer Code.

The fundraiser will be followed by a Raiders Blood Drive on December 22 from noon to 6 p.m. at the Oakland Airport Hilton, 1 Hegenberger Road. The team is celebrating its 50th anniversary and asks fans to help meet their goal to collect a pint of blood for each year. The Raiders have donated several items, which presenting blood donors can win through a series of drawings. Gifts include an autographed photo of Michael Huff and a football signed by Hall of Famer Jim Otto.* A team player will also be present for part of the blood drive – to thank blood donors, sign autographs and pose for pictures.

All presenting donors will also have an opportunity to enter a drawing for a Ski Trip Package for two to Lake Tahoe.

Schedule a blood donation appointment or call 1-800-RED CROSS (800-733-2767).

Individuals who are 17 years of age (16 with written parental permission), meet height and weight requirements (at least 110 pounds based on height) and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood.
