Tannersville Inn Hosts American Red Cross Blood Drive
Northeastern Pennsylvania Region
March 18, 2010
March 12, 2010 (Ashley, PA)– On Sunday, March 21, 2010, the historic Tannersville Inn is hosting an American Red Cross blood drive to help patients in need. The blood drive will run from 11:30AM until 4:30PM and all presenting donors will receive a free lunch coupon that can be redeemed for a pint of seafood chowder or another free lunch option.
To make an appointment to donate blood on March 21, 2010 at the Tannersville Inn, please call 1-800-432-8045. All blood types are currently needed, especially Type O Negative, which can be used for all patients in need. For more information on the Tannersville Inn, please visit www.tannersvilleinn.com.
Blood can be used for patients undergoing many surgical procedures, organ transplants, trauma and chemotherapy. For some patients, such as the victim of an automobile accident, the need for blood is sudden. For others, ongoing transfusions are needed to sustain lifesaving medical treatment.
The American Red Cross Blood Services - Northeast Division must distribute approximately 3,000 units of blood each day just to meet the basic needs of area patients. Only five percent of those eligible to donate blood actually do so. Blood must be available whenever and wherever it is needed for patients.
To donate blood and platelets through the American Red Cross, individuals must be at least 17 years of age, weigh at least 110 pounds, and be in general good health. High school students and donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements. Please bring your Red Cross blood donor card or other form of positive ID when you come to donate. For additional information regarding donor eligibility or where to give blood, please call 1-800-GIVE LIFE or visit givelife.org
