Crossroads Community Hospital Reaches Gold Level Achievement in the American Red Cross Champions For Life Program

Missouri-Illinois

The American Red Cross Biomedical Services mission is to fulfill the needs of the American people for the safest, most reliable, most cost-effective blood through voluntary donations.  The Missouri-Illinois Region of the Red Cross is proud to announce that Crossroads Community Hospital has been a valued partner in accomplishing this mission, and has reached Gold level status in the Red Cross’ Champions for Life campaign.

Champions for Life is a healthcare initiative based on strong partnerships with area hospitals. Through partnerships like the one with Crossroads Community Hospital, the Red Cross strives for two results - to increase blood donations at hospital-sponsored blood drives and to provide recognition to our hospital sponsors and their blood donors. Both results tie in with the Red Cross’ top priority, which is to secure a safe and reliable blood supply for patients in need.

Crossroads Community Hospital staff and the public played a key role in the health center being able to collect 639 pints of blood through hosting seven blood drives in 2010.  Because each pint has the potential to reach up to three people, almost 1,917 patients may have benefited from their efforts.

“Crossroads Community Hospital not only provides excellent health care to our community, they go above and beyond and show true concern and support for area patients by hosting blood drives with the American Red Cross” said Missouri-Illinois Region Donor Recruitment Director, Todd Wagner. “This type of partnership is one which is greatly valued and needed in order to help meet patient demand for blood products- someone needs blood every two seconds.  The American Red Cross is honored to partner with Crossroads Community Hospital.”
