Children at Women’s & Children’s Hospital to Receive Dolls for Holiday
Lalaloopsy, Red Cross Donating Dolls
The American Red Cross is teaming up with Lalaloopsy this winter holiday season to honor nurses at local hospitals, including Women’s and Children’s and the University of Missouri Hospital and Clinics in Columbia. Women’s and Children’s Hospital is receiving a donation of the new Rosy Bumps ‘N’ Bruises rag doll to be given to children in the hospital’s care. In addition, blood donors who present to donate at the University of Missouri Hospital and Clinics on Friday, Dec. 16, from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. will be able to write an encouraging note that will accompany the gift of rag dolls presented to Women’s and Children’s Hospital.
Hospital staff and Red Cross representatives are scheduled to be on hand during the blood drive, among them Red Cross Missouri-Illinois Blood Services Region CEO Scott Caswell, Executive Director of Hospital Development Laura Gajda, and TJ, the Women’s and Children’s Hospital mascot.
Each Lalaloopsy doll has a unique personality inspired by the fabric from which she’s made. Rosy Bumps ‘N’ Bruises was sewn from bits of a nurse’s uniform to honor International Nurses Day, May 12. Rosy Bumps ‘N’ Bruises always puts safety first, a mission she shares with the American Red Cross. She has a pet bear, likes orange juice, and loves to put on bandages – whether they’re needed or not.
The Red Cross thanks Lalaloopsy for their generous gift that will help promote blood donation and honor nurses at local hospitals, and encourages all eligible blood donors to visit the University of Missouri Hospital and Clinics blood drive to donate blood and sign a note for a child in hospital care.
Think outside the box this holiday season. The perfect gift is at your nearest American Red Cross blood drive or blood donation center. And, unlike the latest fashion trend, video game or golf club, it costs nothing but an hour of your time. When you donate blood, you give the perfect gift - another hug, another laugh, another smile, another chance - to someone in need of blood.
This holiday season, give something that means something with a donation to the Red Cross. The Red Cross Holiday Giving Catalog has 25 symbolic gifts representing all Red Cross services that people can purchase in the name of a loved one during the holiday season.
