Radio Station Honored for Supporting Blood Collection Efforts

 

The Missouri-Illinois region of the American Red Cross honored KWWR Radio for the station’s efforts in 2011 to support the mission to help save lives through blood donations. 

A plaque delivered by Red Cross Donor Recruitment Representative Amanda Schlottach to station owner Anne Johnson and Program Director Greg Holman described KWWR as an “Outstanding Media Supporter”.  The station received the honor after sponsoring a blood drive in 2011 and helping the Red Cross spread the word about the importance of blood donations.

"The American Red Cross sincerely thanks the staff of KWWR for their hard work in assisting the Missouri-Illinois region collect potentially lifesaving blood products,” said region CEO Scott Caswell.  “By promoting the need for blood and sharing the important message of the Red Cross, KWWR has played a major role in helping us reach out to potential blood donors.  The support of KWWR is greatly valued and appreciated."

How to Donate Blood:

Call 1-800-RED CROSS or log on to www.redcrossblood.org for more information or to schedule a blood donation appointment. All blood types are needed to ensure the Red Cross maintains an adequate blood supply. A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Donors must be in general good health, weigh at least 110 pounds and be at least 17 years old (16 with completed Parental Consent Form). New height and weight restrictions apply to donors younger than 19. Visit redcrossblood.org to learn more.
