News Release:

(Richmond, VA. May 27, 2013) – In an effort to boost what typically is a period of declining blood donations Farm Fresh Supermarkets and CBS6 are partnering with the Red Cross to provide an exciting opportunity for some lucky donor. All presenting donors at a Red Cross blood drive in the Richmond area will automatically be entered to win a 3-minute Farm Fresh supermarket shopping spree and receive a coupon for 20% off at the Farm Fresh salad bar.

“Summer is always a challenging time to meet blood needs as many people travel on vacation or are involved in recreational activities,” said Bob Lutjen, spokesman for the Red Cross Blood Services. “We are delighted to have the support of Farm Fresh Supermarkets and CBS 6 to assist throughout the month of June.”

“Farm Fresh is glad to partner with the American Red Cross to bring this event to the Richmond area for the first time.” said Annette Myrick, spokeswoman for Farm Fresh. “It is through this campaign that we can not only raise awareness and support a great cause but also provide an interactive element where customers can participate.”

Bill Bevins host of CBS 6’s “Virginia This Morning” show will be a “celebrity shopper” and the contents of his shopping cart after his 3-minute spree will be donated to FeedMore of Central Virginia. The event will take place in mid-July.
