Summer is a difficult time of year for blood collection.  With more people traveling and taking vacations and approximately 19% of the Mid-Atlantic Region donor base being made up of high school and college students, the loss is felt  during summer.   Blood can be donated every 56 days, 6 times a year.  Blood is perishable and has a shelf life of 42 days.

Appointments can be made to donate blood at redcrossblood.org or by calling 1-800-RED CROSS
