Eighth annual Bob’s High School Heroes blood drive to be held at Gillette Stadium
Event in celebration of annual Bob’s Discount Furniture $250,000 High School Heroes Scholarship Program
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (October 24, 2014) – Bob’s Discount Furniture and the American Red Cross are teaming up with the New England Patriots to host the eighth annual Bob’s High School Heroes blood drive and day of family fun at Gillette Stadium on Saturday, November 1, 2014 from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. inside the Putnam Club.
During the blood drive, all attendees will have a chance to enter to win autographed Patriots memorabilia and game tickets. In addition to sponsoring the event, Bob’s Discount Furniture is generously donating furniture gift cards to be raffled off throughout the day. Patriots legends are scheduled to attend as well as Patriots cheerleaders. There will be a Halloween costume contest for children (12 years old and younger) who come to the blood drive in costume. Participating area high school cheerleaders will attend and entertain during the blood drive.
“The Red Cross truly appreciates Bob’s Discount Furniture for being a committed sponsor for more than 18 years and we thank the New England Patriots for hosting the annual blood drive to help patients in need,” said Jeff Meyer, CEO, Massachusetts and Connecticut Blood Services Regions. “Volunteer blood donors are needed every day to help keep the nation’s blood supply at adequate levels.”
“We’re honored to support the Red Cross and their lifesaving services. We are pleased to partner with the Red Cross and the New England Patriots and provide a day of family fun at Gillette Stadium, while at the same time helping to save lives,” said Bob Kaufman, President Emeritus of Bob’s Discount Furniture.
The Red Cross recently launched a first-of-its kind Blood Donor App that puts the power to save lives in the palm of donors’ hands. The Red Cross will host a Blood Donor App lounge at Gillette Stadium, providing visitors the opportunity to download the app and schedule a future blood donation appointment.
This family-oriented, fun filled event is in celebration of the annual Bob’s Discount Furniture $250,000 High School Heroes Scholarship Program. The Scholarship Program recognizes outstanding high school seniors in Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York and New Jersey who have made exceptional contributions to their schools’ volunteer blood donor programs. For official rules about the scholarship, visit mybobs.com. Donors will have the opportunity to have their blood donation applied to a high school of their choice as part of the scholarship program.
All presenting donors will receive a t-shirt. To make an appointment to donate blood at this event, simply download the Red Cross Blood Donor App, call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or log on to redcrossblood.org.
