Red Cross Needs Volunteers

Lewis and Clark Blood Services Region

March 22, 2012

Salt Lake City, March 22, 2012 – The American Red Cross Blood Services in Salt Lake City is looking for a few volunteers.

According to Vickie Morgan, regional volunteer supervisor, “We need friendly, helpful people to act as Donor Ambassadors to make blood donors feel welcome and appreciated and to help keep blood drives organized.”

Donor Ambassadors work at Red Cross mobile blood drives at businesses, churches and schools. They greet and register blood donors, identify them as first-time or returning donors, visit with them and help ensure that they eat, drink and rest for a few minutes and then thank them for donating blood.

The Red Cross holds several mobile blood drives every day somewhere along the Wasatch Front. Times and locations vary but are generally between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM and vary in length. Volunteers may select the blood drive, or portion of a blood drive, they wish to assist.

“Any amount of assistance would help greatly,” Morgan said.
