From February 18 through March 5 every presenting donor at American Red Cross blood drives in the Las Vegas area will be eligible to enter a drawing to win tickets to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway from March 8–10. One of the finalists will also win a tour of the pit and the opportunity to meet Greg Biffle, driver of the No. 16 Red Cross/3M Ford, a spokesperson for the American Red Cross and a longtime blood donor.

While in the Las Vegas area, Biffle will share why he gives blood with the media, blood donors and Red Cross partners.

Julia Wulf, CEO of the Red Cross Blood Service Region, said, “The Red Cross welcomes Biffle’s presence in Las Vegas as an opportunity to make racing fans, and the population in general, aware of the need for blood and of the Red Cross role in providing blood services for most of the hospitals in the city.”

The American Red Cross is now the primary blood supplier for nine of Las Vegas’ 13 hospitals. To be self-sufficient in Las Vegas, the Red Cross needs to collect almost 48,000 whole blood products a year (more than 900 units each week). To find sufficient donors to meet the demand, the Red Cross depends on the cooperation of local businesses, churches and other organizations to sponsor blood drives. Donating blood is a civic responsibility and the Red Cross welcomes any opportunity to inform the public that the need for blood is constant.
