Help Save the Day for Patients in Need

The need for blood is constant. Whether it is a neighbor down the street or family across the country, patients don’t get a holiday from the need for blood products. Yet, the American Red Cross typically experiences a dip in blood donations before and after the Labor Day holiday weekend. That is why Papa Murphy’s Take ‘N Bake Pizza and Peoria/Bloomington’s CW4  network are teaming up with the Red Cross to make it easy for Central Illinois residents to make a difference in the lives of others by donating blood at Papa Murphy’s in Morton on Tuesday, September 6 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

All presenting donors at Papa Murphy’s Take ‘N Bake Pizza in Morton, on September 6,  are eligible to win a raffle, sponsored by Peoria/Bloomington’s CW4 network, for a complete Vampire Diaries DVD box set provided by Peoria/Bloomington’s CW4 network.  In addition, all presenting donors at the Morton Papa Murphy’s Take ‘N Bake Pizza blood drive and at the Peoria blood donation center on September 5, will receive a coupon for a free large deLite 1-topping pizza at one of five Central Illinois locations.

“Every day, blood is needed for people with blood disorders, cancer patients, transplant recipients, trauma victims and many others,” said Shelly Heiden, CEO, of Heart of America Red Cross Blood Services region. “This is a great way to engage younger donors in giving blood to patients in need.”

All blood types are needed to help maintain a sufficient supply for patients in need. Type O negative is in high demand because it can be transfused to patients with any blood type, especially in emergencies.

Don’t be cold blooded. Around the Labor Day holiday weekend, when blood donations tend to slow, eligible blood donors are needed even more. A chance to win. A reason to give. Come out to Papa Murphy’s Take ‘N Bake Pizza and sink your teeth into blood donation. Schedule your Papa Murphy’s Take ‘N Bake Pizza blood drive appointment today at redcrossblood.org. Help the Red Cross, Papa Murphy’s Take ‘N Bake Pizza and Peoria/Bloomington’s CW4 network provide important lifesaving blood to patients in need.

About the American Red Cross

Governed by volunteers and supported by giving individuals and communities, the American Red Cross is the single largest supplier of blood products to hospitals throughout the United States. While local hospital needs are always met first, the Red Cross also helps ensure no patient goes without blood no matter where or when they need it. In addition to providing nearly half of the nation’s blood supply, the Red Cross provides relief to victims of disaster, trains millions in lifesaving skills, serves as a communication link between U.S. military members and their families, and assists victims of international disasters or conflicts.
