Platelet Donors to receive Special Thank-You from Grand Traverse Pie Company
American Red Cross, Grand Traverse Pie Company Give a Delicious Thanks to Platelet Donors this Thanksgiving
November 18, 2011 Lansing, MI– The American Red Cross and Grand Traverse Pie Company have joined forces this holiday season to provide everyone who comes out to donate platelets at the Flint and Lansing Donor Centers a free pie.
“We have seen an increase in appointments in Lansing due to this promotion,” said Maureen Sharp, Apheresis Donor Representative for the American Red Cross Great Lakes Blood Services Region. “We still need help in Flint and are hoping this delicious incentive from Grand Traverse Pie Company will get people to give their thanks this year by rolling up their sleeves to donate platelets.”
The Flint Donor Center, 1401 S. Grand Traverse St., will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. The Lansing Donor Center, 1729 E. Saginaw Hwy., will be open from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Thanksgiving. In addition to receiving a pumpkin, cherry or apple pie, everyone who comes out to donate will have the opportunity to win a $100 Visa gift card and a $250 Meijer Gift Card.
Because the holidays are busy times of the year, all eligible platelet donors are asked to call 1-866-725-2140 to make an appointment.
