American Red Cross to Offer New Frequency Program
Local Businesses Provide Incentives to Donate Blood

LANSING, MI – January 21, 2010 – The American Red Cross Great Lakes Blood Services Region recently announced the beginning of a new donor frequency program. The 2010 Northwest Lower Michigan Donor Loyalty Program will run through December 31, 2010.

“This is a great opportunity for our business to get involved with a great cause,” said Obie Wicker, Director of Franchise Operations for B.C. Pizza, Inc. “We are happy to partner with the American Red Cross to encourage people to donate blood.”

The new program was developed as a way to increase blood donations in the Great Lakes Region. If a person attempt to donate blood a minimum of four times a year at participating blood drives in Antrim, Charlevoix, Cheboygan, Kalkaska, Emmet and Otsego Counties, they will receive a gift certificate to BC Pizza. If they attempt to donate blood a minimum of six times a year in those participating counties, they will receive a gift card redeemable at BOYNE resorts and attractions.

“It is an honor to reward people who give the gift of life by donating blood,” said Erin Ernst, Public Relations Manager of BOYNE resorts. “We are proud to be a part of the American Red Cross frequency program.”

A special Northwest Lower Michigan Donor Loyalty card will be provided and distributed at the registration area of participating blood drives. The card needs to be presented at the time of each donation so American Red Cross representatives can accurately verify how many times an individual has attempted to donate blood in those counties.

To find a blood drive in the participating counties or to make an appointment to donate blood, visit RedCrossBlood.org or call 1-800-GIVE-LIFE.

How to Donate Blood

About the American Red Cross
