Marianne joined the American Red Cross in 1981 as a Public Information Specialist. She received the region’s Tiffany Award for Employee Excellence in 1984. She holds a B.A. in Journalism from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown and an M.L.L.S. from Duquesne University. In 1990 Marianne was accredited in Public Relations by the Public Relations Society of America. In 2002 she received the local YWCA’s Tribute to Women Award in the Non-Profit Sector. She has served as a part-time instructor (Technical/Business Writing) at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown.

October is Liver Awareness Month, and the American Red Cross is encouraging people to focus on liver health. Liver transplants are the second most frequent type of organ transplant, with more than 6,000 liver transplants performed annually in the U.S., according to the American Liver Foundation.
