Regional Communications Manager (Johnstown): Marianne Spampinato, APR (814) 262-2813  mspampin@usa.redcross.org Marianne joined the American Red Cross in 1981 as a Public Information Specialist. She received the region’s Tiffany Award for Employee Excellence in 1984. She holds a B.A. in Journalism from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown and an M.L.L.S. from Duquesne University. In 1990 Marianne was accredited in Public Relations by the Public Relations Society of America. In 2002 she received the local YWCA’s Tribute to Women Award in the Non-Profit Sector. She has served as a part-time instructor (Technical/Business Writing) at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown.

 

Regional Public Relations Specialist - Tara Harrington (Johnstown) (814) 262-2811  harringtont@usa.redcross.org Tara joined the American Red Cross in February 2006 as a Public Relations Specialist. She holds a B.S. in Communication from Clarion University of Pennsylvania, where she worked at the campus newspaper and radio station and held leadership roles in the Society of Collegiate Journalists. Tara completed her internship at the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium. She previously worked in customer service at Somerset Trust Company and as a PR/Gallery Assistant at Laurel Arts. Tara has successfully completed the Gunter Leadership Initiative Program sponsored by the local chamber of commerce.  

 

Regional Public Relations Specialist - Kathryn Solomon (Johnstown) (814) 262-2812  solomonk@usa.redcross.org Kathryn joined the Red Cross as a Donor Resources Assistant in 2002 and was promoted to Public Relations Specialist in September 2004. She holds an associate degree from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, communication certifications from area colleges and training programs and has extensive experience in the advertising and editorial departments at local companies and media outlets. She has continued to increase her communications, graphic design & marketing knowledge through online courses and at Penn Highlands Community College. Kathryn is the media’s primary contact for advertising opportunities.  

 

Supervisor of Communications (Huntington): Cheryl Gergely  Tel: (304) 526-2965 cgergely@usa.redcross.org Cheryl began her Red Cross career in 1985 and held various positions in Donor Resources before being promoted to her current position in 1997. She holds a B. A. in Journalism from Marshall University and also continues her communications & marketing education at her alma mater. Cheryl’s primary focus is on special event blood drives and media relations in the region’s South Central and Southwest zones (including northern, central and southwestern West Virginia).
