Give blood in memory of Park Ranger Luke Nihart.

Manhattan, Kan.—June 30, 2010—It is time for Red Cross’ Battle of the Badges Blood Drive. This means, local law enforcement will “battle” with local firefighters and EMS to see who can give the most blood.

EMSpersonnel, firefighters and law enforcement officers give time to the community; they give a sense of security to residents; and they often give blood too. As local heroes to many, their courage in the face of adversity bolsters people in need.

But the Battle isn’t just for police officers and fire fighters; anyone can get involved in by donating blood and voting for a favorite team. But choose your vote carefully, it might just come up the next time you’re trying to avoid a speeding ticket or when need help getting your cat out of a tree!

Donate at the 7th Annual Manhattan Battle of the Badges Community Blood Drive on Tuesday, July 6 from 11:45 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. or on Wednesday, July 7 from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Pottorf Hall in Cico Park.
