American Red Cross Teams Up With Restaurant.Com: Partnership Will Support Local Restaurants and Help Save Lives During National Dine Out Week

The American Red Cross is pleased to announce a promotional partnership with Restaurant.com, the leading provider of restaurant savings nationwide. National Dine Out Week, founded to celebrate dining out, dining local will also help to save lives.

All presenting donors at the Wichita Blood Donor Center, the Hays Blood Donor Center and the W.H. and Helen M. Graves Blood Platelet Center from April 23 through April 29, 2012, will receive a $25 gift card to Restaurant.com. When the gift card is redeemed on the website, Restaurant.com will make an additional financial gift to the Red Cross.

 “We’re excited to announce the launch of National Dine Out Week, Restaurant.com’s first holiday, dedicated to supporting our own partner restaurants while helping the Red Cross save lives,” said Restaurant.com President and Chief Marketing Officer Christopher Krohn. “We hope to fill nearly 200,000 restaurant tables in local communities nationwide as a result of the efforts of National Dine Out Week.”    

In an effort to fill tables and support local restaurants across the country, Restaurant.com will also make a donation to the Red Cross every time consumers:

  • Purchase a Restaurant.com gift certificate for use at a favorite restaurant
  • Visit a local restaurant and share their dining experience during National Dine Out Week with Restaurant.com
  • Share National Dine Out Week with friends on Facebook
  • Tweet about local dining plans during National Dine Out Week using #DineLocal

How to Donate Blood

Simply call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or visit redcrossblood.org to make an appointment or for more information. All blood types are needed to ensure a reliable supply for patients. A blood donor card or driver’s license, or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age (16 in Kansas with completed Parental Consent Form), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 19 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.
