Miss Ohio recruits holiday blood donors at COSI
December 28, 2009
Those who went to COSI on Dec. 28 were treated to more than just touring the museum. They also had the opportunity to help save lives by giving blood, and the chance to meet Miss Ohio 2009 Erica Gelhaus.
With many families looking for fun activities during the holiday period, a family blood drive at COSI was a perfect fit. Parents could give the gift of life while Gelhaus read to and entertained children.
Gelhaus is a donor herself, and champions the mission of the Red Cross to serve the community through a stable blood supply for any patient in need. She spent the day at the drive recruiting blood donors, greeting those giving, and entertaining children.
Those who came to donate at COSI were able to enjoy:
discount entry to COSI that day
a free movie ticket to the screen at COSI
a free T-shirt.
enter to win great prizes like a $1,000 Easton shopping spree!
Enter to win $100 gift card from Buca di Beppo
Watch for Gelhaus in the Miss American pageant in January. You can read more about her at www.missohio.org. Also helping to recruit donors was The Brew 105.7 FM.
Blood donations generally decline during the holidays as many are too busy to give blood. Blood donations this week will be vital to help patients at 39 hospitals across Central Ohio.
To schedule an appointment to donate at an upcoming drive call 1-800-GIVE-LIFE or visit RedCrossBlood.org.
