Here in Central Ohio, the local blood supply is critically low.  The Red Cross strives to keep a 3 to 5 day supply of each blood type on hand, but currently has less than a one day supply of 5 of the 8 blood types.

UPDATED:  09-08-2011 Hurricane Irene is shaping up to become a large flooding operation for the American Red Cross.  This includes ensuring there is a sufficient blood supply for the constant need as well as any special needs caused the by the disaster.
