Blood Transfusion Medicine Lecture Series

Introduction
The Blood Transfusion Medicine Lecture Series is aimed towards professionals involved in the Transfusion Medicine department, particularly hospital blood bank employees. Lectures are available every Wednesday morning from 8:30 to 10:30 and offer 2.0 Contact Hours of continuing education for California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) licenses. All lectures are held at the American Red Cross Blood Center on the grounds of California State Polytechnic University, Pomona.

Please note: Due to site scheduling conflicts, the sessions on May 30 (Compatibility Testing) and June 6 (What Do You Do When All Unites Are Incompatible) will be held in the Southern California Edison (SCE) building at 1 Innovation Drive. Follow directions to the American Red Cross, park in our parking lot and walk across the street (Kellogg) to the Southern California Edison (SCE) building. You will be escorted to the lecture room. Photo ID is required.

Goals and Objectives
Upon completion, the participant should be able to describe key concepts presented by each speaker. Each lecture has specific objectives distributed with the lecture handout.

Continuing Education Credits

Each lecture is approved for 2.0 Contact Hours of continuing education for California Clinical Laboratory Scientist licenses (Accrediting Agency number 0015). Attendees must be present for the entire program to receive credit – late arrivals will not receive credit. Certificates are given at the end of the lecture.

There is no fee to attend if you are employed in a hospital which uses Red Cross as the primary blood supplier.
Otherwise cost to attend is $15 per lecture or $125 for the entire series.
