Sickle Cell Donor Committee

The Penn-Jersey Blood Services Region is committed to diversity.  This is reflected in the diversification of the Region’s Board of Directors.  The Region’s Board of Directors sponsors a Sickle Cell Donor Committee comprised of Board and community members who are invited to serve on the committee because of their influence in the market or key insights.  The committee assists the Region staff in identifying potential organizations, churches, high schools, or colleges for recruitment of Black-identified blood donors.  They also act as community door-openers to assist in the education of potential blood drive sponsors groups and donors.  Many members peak on behalf of the Region about the Sickle Cell Donor Program, education on Sickle Cell Disease and its complications, and the need for community support in blood donation.
