Volunteer of the Month

Marie Sanders

Marie Sanders, a native of Charlotte, North Carolina came to Baltimore in 1959.  She retired from a career as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) after 30 years.

At the age of four Marie began playing the piano and singing in church.  In high school, she sang with a group known as the "Play Girls." She also played the flute, was a dancer, played basketball and volunteered for the American Red Cross!  Currently she is an avid reader of all types of books.

After retirement, at the urging of her granddaughter who was a Security Guard at the time for the American Red Cross Biomedical Headquarters, Marie became a blood services volunteer.  Since 2009, Marie has volunteered as a Blood Donor Ambassador at the Dr. Joan W. Gibble Blood Donor Center almost every Saturday and she also volunteers at Biomedical Headquarters reception desk three times a week.

Marie enjoys volunteering for the American Red Cross.  She loves the opportunity to meet new people especially new youth volunteers whom she mentors.

Marie is a consistent, dedicated volunteer!  Please join us in showing our support and praise for Marie Sanders, Volunteer of the Month for May 2015!
