Volunteer of the Month

Paige Selby

Paige, who calls herself an "Okie," comes to the Greater Chesapeake and Potomac Blood Region by the way of Oklahoma where she was born.  She was a civilian employee of the Unites States Air Force at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma finishing up her career working out of the Pentagon before retiring in 2012.
Paige has been a blood donor for years, giving over 10 gallons. When she saw an ad in the Washington Post for American Red Cross blood drive volunteers, she decided that was an excellent opportunity for her.
Paige volunteers for community blood drives in Washington, DC; Arlington, VA and is also a regular at the Dr. Charles R. Drew Donor Center.  She also volunteers as an usher for the Signature Theatre in Arlington, VA.
Container gardening, traveling (for instance, Paige will be going to France and Spain this summer) and reading mystery novels are a few of her hobbies.  She has an addiction to reading cookbooks and trying out new recipes on her family.
Paige finds volunteering at blood drives very enjoyable.  Her strong belief that blood donations are of utmost importance is her motivating factor.  She likes providing excellent customer service to the blood donors, getting to know them and helping make the donors blood donation go smoothly.  She also likes the fact that she is able to schedule her volunteer dates around her busy schedule.
Please join the Office of Volunteers in congratulating Paige Selby for being chosen as the Blood Services Volunteer Donor Ambassador "Volunteer of the Month for April 2015."
