Holiday Hero Memorial Blood Drive
Louisville, KY 40209
While Memorial Day may signal the unofficial start of summer, the holiday’s true meaning is inescapable for those wishing to honor members of the United States Armed Forces. Making a blood donation through the American Red Cross is one way to pay homage to the service men and women who protect and defend the nation.
O.T. Blankenship donates blood in memory of his 22-year-old nephew, Sgt. Jonathan K. Peney, U.S. Army Ranger, who was shot and killed in the line of duty in Afghanistan. “Americans have so much to be thankful for. It’s time we give something back,” said Blankenship. “[My nephew] made the ultimate sacrifice. A pint of blood is nothing for me, more people should donate.”
To help ensure a stable blood supply for patients in need this Memorial Day, the American Red Cross invites all eligible blood donors to attend the annual Holiday Hero Memorial blood drive. All presenting donors will be treated to Stoker’s Broaster Chicken and Graeter’s Pint for a Pint ice cream.
