Drexel University Hosts 12th Annual American Red Cross Blood Drive Challenge

Penn-Jersey Blood Services Region

Drexel University has teamed up with the American Red Cross to host a blood drive on Thursday October 17th, as they look for a victory in the 12th Annual Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Blood Challenge. Students, faculty and members of the surrounding community are encouraged to join in this life saving event and donate blood during The Drexel University Blood Drive.

The Colonial Athletic Association Blood Challenge enters its 12th year in 2013, having established itself as one of the conference’s most important public service projects. The CAA Blood Challenge has raised 36,719 units of blood in a little over a decade, which has helped to save more than 110,000 lives.

The 2012 event resulted in 4,381 actual donors and 4,613 productive units of blood from the 10 participating CAA campuses.

Each CAA institution had at least 120 donors participate in the program and six collected more than 220 units of blood.  Five-time champion Drexel University placed third with 578 donors.
