Help Save Lives with the American Red Cross and the Deen Team
Southern Blood Services Region
The American Red Cross and the Deen Team are teaming up to help save lives.
A blood drive will be held in Savannah on Friday, June 6, 2014. Donors can give at The Lady and Sons Restaurant from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Hilton Garden Inn Historic District from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. or the Red Cross blood donation center on Tibet Avenue from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Presenting donors will receive:
· A tea towel autographed by Paula Deen
· A $20 gift card to The Lady & Sons or Paula Deen’s Retail Store (must be redeemed by June 8, 2014)
· The Lady & Sons signature Gooey Butter Cake in the refreshment area
“My family and I are proud to partner with the Red Cross for our seventh blood drive,” said Jamie Deen. “As a long-time blood donor, I understand the importance of ensuring a stable blood supply, especially as we head into the summer when donations typically decline.”
Approximately 1,200 blood donations are needed daily in the Southern Blood Services Region to maintain an adequate supply for 100 local hospitals. Blood can be safely donated every 56 days. Most healthy people age 17 and older, or 16 with parental consent, who weigh at least 110 pounds, are eligible to donate blood and platelets. Donors age 18 and younger must also meet specific height and weight requirements.
