Circle of Heroes Program
![]()
Circle of Heroes (COH) program is an exclusive club for type O negative blood donors.
All blood donors are important. But there is something special about type o negative donors. Only 7 out of 100 people have blood type O negative. That means only 2.6% of individuals with this specific type are able to donate and less than .3% actually do. Type O negative blood is considered the Universal blood type because it can be used by anyone! Since it can be so widely used, this universal blood type is in high demand by medical facilities. It can be used for accident victims when there is no time to type their blood, surgeries, cancer patients, traumas, burn victims, and many others. It is also the preferred transfusion type for premature babies and newborns.
REWARD PROGRAM.
Circle of Heroes members can earn rewards starting with their second whole blood or first double red cell donation. This donor rewards program will recognize Circle of Heroes members that give blood 2 or more times from January 1, 2011 through December 31, 2011. Members will be recognized with a token of our appreciation at their 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th donation levels. Each level will have a different reward. The rewards may include an eco-friendly tote bag, t-shirts, umbrella and folding chair. All recognization items will be mailed directly to your home or hand delivered at an upcoming blood donation location. The actual items above are subject to change at any time. Please contact a Circle of Heroes team member with any questions.
DOUBLE YOUR IMPACT.
You can make double the difference in one donation. If you meet certain criteria, double red cell donation allows you to safely donate two units of red cells during one appointment using an automated donation process.
Whole blood donations contain red blood cells, platelets, plasma and white blood cells. Red blood cells are the most frequently used blood component and are needed by almost every patient requiring a transfusion.
For more information or to see if you meet the double red cell criteria please contact a Circle of Heroes team member.
