HOSPITAL SERVICES


Hospital Services Technician I/II

Job Duties: Provide customer assistance in ordering blood products and supplies to maintain hospital inventory and return blood products within regulatory definitions. Comply with safety policies and procedures in the work area and use applicable protective equipment at all times to prevent exposure to potentially infectious blood and body fluids. Receive routine orders for a variety of blood and pharmaceutical products and transfusion-related supplies. Assist hospital personnel with inventory alternatives when requested products are unavailable within established guidelines and procedures that assist the customers and the patient. May investigate and resolve hospital shipment problems. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. One year prior experience in blood banking distribution and customer service is preferred. Must have computer experience and good customer service skills.

LABORATORY SERVICES


Technical Assistant III – Component Lab – Internal Candidates Only

Job Duties: Prepare blood components. Maintain manual and computer records associated with production or testing. Comply with safety policies and procedures in the work area and use applicable protective equipment at all times to prevent exposure to potentially infectious blood and body fluids. At the direction of supervisor, perform complex laboratory services, component reconciliation, production record review, according to established procedures. Perform component supervisory functions associated with component manufacturing and processing. Act as a resource for other laboratory services staff regarding component production, quarantine and labeling, equipment quality control, and waste management of blood products. Perform routine tasks in accordance with established standard operating procedures under limited supervision. Serve as team or shift leader assisting in the training and/or mentoring of other laboratory services staff. Qualifications: Minimum two years of college studies or technical training in science or medical technology or the equivalent is preferred. Successful performance as a Component Technician II or equivalent experience in a laboratory or manufacturing setting preferred.

EQUIPMENT MANAGEMENT AND VALIDATION

 

Biomedical Equipment TechnicianInternal Candidates Only

Job Duties: Assemble, repair and maintain all types of biomedical equipment to ensure that equipment functions properly and safely. Diagnose cause of electronic or mechanical malfunction or failure of electronic monitoring and control equipment and repair malfunction or failure. Perform preventive and corrective maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment. Qualifications: Associate's degree in electronics or equivalent preferred. Two years of related repair experience is required. Advanced knowledge of electrical circuitry, common test equipment, tools and service manuals is required. Basic writing, communications and computer skills required. A current valid driver's license and good driving record is required.

Administrative Assistant II – Internal Candidates Only

Job Duties: Perform a variety of standard, advanced and confidential secretarial and administrative duties. Main Tulsa contact for Maximo. Generate, close and fill preventive and corrective maintenance job orders. Maintain computer-based and paper files. File and retrieve required material, establish new folders and sections as needed and periodically purge files of outdated materials. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent, or specialized business and/or secretarial training is required. Minimum two years related work experience, or the equivalent job, knowledge, and skills is required. Good verbal and written communication skills. Standard typing and transcription skills optional. Knowledge of computer office products, word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation applications. Familiarity with office machines (i.e., photocopying equipment, microfilm machine, facsimile) necessary.

Job Duties: Perform and demonstrate for new and incumbent staff departmental process. Demonstrate excellence in customer services/public relations promoting a positive, professional image of the American Red Cross Biomedical Services. Demonstrate job skills for new and incumbent staff with attention to detail and full knowledge of all aspects of the daily operations of the department. Perform and demonstrate to new and incumbent staff all phases of departmental operations according to BHQ, local systems operating procedures, the Code of Federal Regulations and all other applicable regulations to ensure SQUIPP.  Act as a role model for other employees, demonstrating the same adherence to all aspects of On the Job Instructor activities and demeanor at all times. Monitor and report to management the learning progress/challenges of new hires identified in the field relative to departmental performance expectations. Qualifications: High school graduate required, Associates degree desired. Medical Assistant/Phlebotomy training preferred for Collections department. Documented satisfactory performance in department assigned for 1 year and customer service experience as well as a professional and friendly demeanor required. Effective communication and public relations skills; ability to adapt to long, irregular hours and frequent schedule changes; good manual dexterity; good driving record (there may be assignments as driver) and attention to detail is required.

Collections Specialist I (Apheresis) New!

Job Duties: Conduct health history interviews, determine donor eligibility, and provide donor care during the collection of safe blood units. Demonstrate excellence in customer service and public relations to promote a positive, professional image of the American Red Cross Biomedical Services. Work independently with attention to detail and maintain full knowledge of all aspects of the daily collection operation. Comply with all CFR, Blood Services Directives, RSP, Blood Services Letters, Local Operating Procedures and Exposure Control Plan policies and procedures as well as all Red Cross philosophies, structures, policies and procedures. Function as a member of a team to ensure smooth and efficient collection process. Qualifications: Previous apheresis/phlebotomy experience preferred. Customer service experience, effective verbal communication and public relations skills are preferred. A current valid driver's license and good driving record is required.

Team Leader  – Internal Candidates Only – New for Dallas!

Job Duties: Lead team to maintain premier donor care, customer safety and satisfaction during the blood collection process. Demonstrate excellence in customer service and public relations to promote a positive, professional image of the ARC Biomedical Services. Works independently with attention to detail and full knowledge of all aspects of the collection process. Lead staff to ensure appropriate donor care and the collection of safe units of blood. Plan, organize, and lead team in all aspects of blood and/or apheresis collection operations (fixed site or mobile) to ensure a smooth and efficient process. May perform clerical administrative functions to provide documentation and ensure donor/recipient safety and to monitor staff competency. Perform all technical phases of collection procedures in accordance with operator’s manual, local operating procedures. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required. Documented satisfactory performance as a Collections Technician II, with a minimum of six months of relevant experience preferred. Experience in teambuilding and customer service preferred. Collections Technician I

Job Duties: Provide donor care during the collection of blood units. Perform phases of blood collection and donor care according to BSDs, ARCBS directives, the Code of Federal Regulations and local policies and procedures to ensure safe product and optimum donor experience. Assemble and maintain supplies and equipment to ensure a state of readiness. Function with team effort to ensure smooth and efficient blood collection process. Operate ARC vehicles in compliance with applicable regulations. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Medical assistant or phlebotomy training is preferred. Customer service experience, effective verbal communication, and public relations skills are preferred. A current valid driver's license and good driving record is required. Physical requirements may include the ability to lift, push or pull heavy weights up and down ramps and stairs, the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time and adapt to long, irregular hours and frequent schedule changes is required.

Donor Services Manager

Job Duties: Manage the collection operation for mobile and fixed site allogeneic and specialized blood products (e.g., pheresis, autologous, directed) to ensure the achievement of annual goals in the most efficient and cost-effective manner possible. Establish and oversee implementation of staffing and deployment policies and ensure the development of local operating policies and procedures. Assist in Board/Committee level planning, analyze and remedy efficiency issues and ensure training in and compliance with all regulatory requirements. Establish and oversee deployment of appropriate staffing levels to ensure the efficient and effective collection of blood and blood products to meet annual collection goals and regional patient need. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in nursing, management, related field, or equivalent is required. Master's degree preferred. Minimum six years of related experience including 3 years of management experience is required. Excellent organizational skills, the ability to handle multiple priorities effectively, analyze problems and implement appropriate solutions, and assimilate information quickly. Ability to work independently while developing functioning teams among staff. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to deal with all levels of staff, hospital personnel, physicians, volunteers and donors.
