Co-Director, HLA Laboratory
Co-directing the overall operation and administration of the laboratory, including the employment of personnel who are competent to perform test procedures, record and report test results promptly, accurately and proficiently, and assure compliance with the applicable
regulations The incumbent provides the special scientific skills in developing new procedures and is responsible for the proper performance, interpretation and reporting of all laboratory procedures and the laboratory’s successful participation in proficiency testing. Ensure that testing systems developed and used for each of the tests performed in the laboratory provide quality laboratory services for all aspects of test performance, which includes the pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic phases of testing. Assist the principal investigator on NMDP contract duties. This includes organization of contracted work review of quality control records to ensure compliance and attendance at Principle Investigator’s meetings.
Qualifications: Hold an earned doctoral degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science from an accredited institution or be a doctor of medicine or osteopathy licensed to practice medicine or osteopathy in the state, country, or other jurisdiction in which the laboratory is located. Be certified or be eligible for certification by ASHI. Have at least 2 years full-time post-doctoral laboratory training or experience in immunology, histocompatibility, immunogenetics, or a related field, or a residency in clinical and/or anatomic pathology or other related medical specialty, and have at least 2 years full-time post-doctoral training in directing or supervising high complexity testing in human histocompatibility and immunogenetics in an ASHI-accredited or approved laboratory. Pre-doctoral experience supervising high complexity testing in human histocompatibility and immunogenetics in ASHI approved laboratory may be credited (0.5 post year for each pre year)
