Media outlets, American Red Cross to partner on annual Jefferson Ohio Media Donor Day on June 18
Greater Alleghenies Blood Services Region
As part of the national American Red Cross “100 Days of Summer – 100 Days of Hope” campaign, area media outlets encourage are residents to set aside one day this summer to donate blood and give hope at the annual Jefferson Media Day Blood Drive:
Wednesday, June 18
9 am to 7 pm
St. Florian Hall
286 Luray Drive, Wintersville
Media sponsors for this year’s Media Donor Day, the largest American Red Cross blood drive in Jefferson County, are: 106.3 The River, Clear Channel Radio, The Herald Star and WTOV-TV 9.
Come to donate blood and receive a Red Cross t-shirt, donated by Franciscan University of Steubenville and Trinity Health Systems, while supplies last.
“Every day this summer is a chance to give a lifesaving gift,” said Marianne Spampinato, Communications Manager, Greater Alleghenies Blood Services Region. “Making a blood or platelet donation with the Red Cross is an easy way to extend hope and help ensure lifesaving blood products are available for patients here in our community and across the nation.”
Vacations and summer activities often result in a decline in blood donations during the summer. In fact, during the months of June, July and August, about two fewer donors give blood at each Red Cross blood drive than what patients need. The trend is particularly noticeable around holidays like Memorial Day, the Fourth of July and Labor Day.
