August is "Feisty Gage" Month at local Red Cross blood donation centers

Greater Alleghenies Blood Services Region

Born three months premature, Gage Brzezinski was in neo-natal intensive care, fighting for his life as he suffered from bleeding and fluid on his brain. During this time, the NICU nurses and Gage’s parents started to call him Feisty Gage because he wasn’t giving up.

Little Gage received transfusions to fight off a deadly infection and these ultimately helped to save his life. However, doctors weren’t sure if Gage would ever walk or talk. A fighter from the beginning, Gage has worked very hard to overcome those challenges and today is an energetic boy who loves firefighters and just celebrated his third birthday!

“Volunteer donors made our life with Gage possible,” said Ashley Brzezinski, Gage’s mother.

“We were fortunate that blood was readily available when Gage needed it the most.”

When you donate at a participating Red Cross donor center this month, you’ll have the opportunity to show Gage some love by signing a note that will be given to him and his family.
