Sharon JaksaSharon Jaksa

 Vice President, Central Blood Services Division

Sharon Jaksa has more than 28 years of American Red Cross experience serving in various roles including: medical technologist, laboratory processing coordinator, senior technologist, assistant director of Technical Services, director of Manufacturing, chief operating officer and CEO of the Great Lakes Blood Services Region. In 2012, she was promoted to the Great Lakes Blood Services Division vice president role. In November 2013, she was appointed as the vice president of the Central Blood Services Division, including 15 blood services regions and seven shared management teams. She resides in Michigan and holds a master’s in administration from Central Michigan University. She is also an adjunct professor for Michigan State University, teaching in the Master’s Program for Laboratory Operations.

Greg NovinskaGreg Novinska

Chief Executive Officer, Badger-Hawkeye and Heart of America Blood Services Regions

Greg Novinska is the CEO of the Badger-Hawkeye and Heart of America Blood Services Regions. Novinska has been with the Red Cross for more than 15 years. Prior to working for the Red Cross, he was a member of the surgical staff in area hospitals, which gives him a unique perspective on how important the work of the Red Cross is to hospital partners and the patients they serve.

John Weiss, M.D., Ph.D.John Weiss, M.D., Ph.D.

Medical Director, Badger-Hawkeye Region

Dr. John Weiss has a medical degree and a doctorate in oncology and is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology. He has more than 30 years of blood banking and pathology experience. He serves as medical director of the Badger-Hawkeye Blood Services Region, providing medical oversight of the region's component and reference labs, as well as medical management of donor health issues. Weiss is also the associate medical director of Transfusion Service at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics. He is an assistant clinical professor in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. Weiss has also published a number of papers on blood banking and pathology topics.
